April Update

The first quarter of 2021 is behind you. If you haven’t stopped for a minute to take stock of how far you’ve come, we promise you it’s not too late.

At Admin Slayer, we’re big fans of pause-and-reflection. It’s not because we’re naturally good at that kind of thing - in fact, we tend to be very future-focused. This focus is useful and important when you’re growing and building businesses, but we need to be mindful of the tendency to ignore what we have already achieved. Without that pause to review and realize where we’ve come from and what we’ve learned, we can feel like we’re always behind - and that’s exhausting.

Managing your own energy - not just your time - is a key component of remaining resilient while you’re riding the rollercoaster of entrepreneurship. This is a marathon, not a sprint, and those pauses to reflect on your business, your leadership, and acknowledge your badassery are vital to your ongoing success.

That’s why the Admin Slayer theme this year is recovery.  You’re out there right now, every day, learning new things, managing new challenges, and fighting the good fight. Just like with physical fitness, you need time to recover, to allow a little time for those rips and tears to develop into stronger muscle, so you can go just one step further in the very next round.

This month, we’re wondering what the next round might look like for you. After you have reviewed your first quarter, you might be wondering whether it’s time for a pivot - and what the heck that means anyway. Sometimes a pivot is a great idea - like when Vancouver-based Tiny Speck realized the game they were developing just wasn’t going to work, but the communication tools they used were game-changing. Sometimes a pivot isn’t a great idea, like when a small restaurant tried to open a cheese store (sadly, no link to this story, but it did happen and they had to close after a year). Determining whether a pivot - large or small - is right for you and your business takes careful thought, assessment, and research. Find out how here.

Any changes you make to your business need to be reflected in your brand, and tackling that takes expertise, experience, and artistry. Luckily, the Admin Slayer team is here to help you! Have you met Sabrina? Our Branding Slayer is a graphic designer and artist with two solid decades of continued success in developing meaningful imagery that communicates your brand to your audience. Finally, we celebrated Administrative Professional Day on Wednesday April 21st!!! Our business owners had a lot of amazing things to say about our team members, and we’ve been sharing them on our social media feeds - find them all here:  LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
