Forget What You Know

...Or what you think you know

Now that you’ve listed all the tasks you complete in a given week, and created a Friction Point table… you may have gotten a little stuck. The “What I Might Need Instead” column could be sitting there, empty, waiting for you to somehow magically come up with ideas you don’t have.

The truth is, it’s just not easy to think differently than you ever had before. The easiest thing would be to do what you’ve always done.

But you’re better than that, because you know this:

“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” ~ Albert Einstein

We’re not saying that you have to be the person who comes up with all the answers. In fact, that’s the last thing we’re saying.

We’re saying that it’s time to crowdsource the answers you need, the tasks that need completion, and to challenge yourself to think beyond traditional ideas of what an employer/employee, leader/team member relationship looks like.

Step Outside the Box

Your business is not average. Your offering, your systems, and your goals are unlike anything else that's out there. Why, then, would you take a traditional route towards solving problems and completing tasks?

You may not need an employee who completes the task you laid out for them in the way that you laid it out, sitting in your office, waiting for your instructions. Instead you may actually need a team that understands your business and the results you wish to accomplish. You might need a team that creates unique solutions that are more automated, effective, and increase your revenue.

While it may be comforting to have a warm body in the office, you didn’t become an entrepreneur because it felt comfortable. You became an entrepreneur in order to achieve results.

Learn to Let Go

One of the hardest lessons in leadership is learning to let go. It’s one of the key differences between someone who is running a business and someone who bought themselves a job.

It sounds easier than it is. You didn’t get to where you are today by leaving things to chance. When you build a business from nothing, it can be hard to pry your fingers off your creation - even when it’s the best thing you could possibly do. When you must personally handle every little thing, you create a bottleneck in your business. It limits your growth. It leaves you exhausted. It puts a cap on your revenue.

It may take time for you to learn to trust another person to properly handle your baby… ahem… your business.

However, the sooner you do, the sooner you will reap the rewards. (The rewards are pretty big. We’ve seen them first hand.)

Building Your Answers, and Your Team

Getting back to that difficult Friction List - don’t try to find the answers for yourself, unless they do somehow arrive magically. Instead, take those empty spots and hand it over to your best friend, your mentor, your business coach, and your team at Admin Slayer. We will look for possible answers to the question: What Might I Need Instead?

Ever wanted someone to review your business processes and determine if there are better ways to do what you do?

Yes, we do that too.
