Our spotlight this quarter shines on our newest recruit - Rowan! Rowan is native to Ontario farmland where she grew up with her family. She now lives in Victoria, BC where she delights in being near the beautiful Pacific Ocean. As a young girl, Rowan used to go swimming whenever possible, spending each summer in the lake near her family’s cottage. Day-dreaming of being a mermaid and swimming laps around her cousins was a highlight of Rowan’s childhood.
Entering the administrative force in early 2020, Rowan was one of the many who were hit by the pandemic and forced to switch gears. Fortunately, her future mother-in-law’s career is in professional administration and recommended that Rowan branch into working as a virtual assistant. Admin Slayer stood out to her as a top quality company and we saw very quickly that Rowan was a Slayer with special qualities.
Working alongside her co-Slayers, Rowan dives deep into the processes her clients have set up and is quick to suggest better solutions for tasks, maintaining pro-activity at the forefront of her values. She adapts readily to new systems and software, easily taking on different CRMs and project management systems depending on her clients’ preferences and needs. Her positive attitude, openness to change, and flexibility have made her a reliable and valuable Slayer.
In her down time, Rowan continues to swim when she can. She decompresses with yoga and enjoys spending time with her kitty, Momo, and with her fiance and his family. After taking a course with a college in BC about women’s hormonal cycles, Rowan has become immersed in the world of women’s health and the endocrine system. One of the advantages of working remotely is the flexibility to take care of your body when you’re feeling unwell, something we encourage at Admin Slayer. Our team model means the client still has the necessary support should some Slayer self-care time be needed.
Rowan is a strong asset to our Admin Slayer team, from keeping her clients’ calendars organized, the inboxes clean, excitedly diving into research for events and travel, to contributing to our community culture.
