Is it Spring yet? By the time you get this newsletter, we really hope so. It’s been a long, long winter.
This month marks the end of the first quarter of the year. We’ll have had three months to get to know 2021 really, really well, to test the waters with our Hudson’s Bay Start, to figure out if the direction that we started pointing our business compass is making sense - and then a whole new quarter starts next month.
Now is a great time to really assess how things are going, to find out if what you thought might happen is actually happening. If it is, what made it work and what can you replicate? If not, what do you need to change? Do you need to make a pivot, large or small? (We’ll talk about that next month!) Are your personal batteries charged up, or do you need to stop and build some resilience with self care?
Oh, and don’t forget to take some time off. If you’re holding off until summer, that is just too long, and if you took spring break with your kids or someone else’s, that may not have been much of a break. You’re no good to anyone if you haven’t taken the opportunity to recover.
We’re spending this entire year writing about the importance of recovery, and what that looks like in various aspects of your business. In January, we encouraged you to take stock of your business (something worth doing right now, on a smaller scale), and in February we asked you to look at your own leadership, to find out how you’re going to learn from the crises you’ve experienced.
This month, since you’re so busy reviewing your first quarter, we know you can only make small tweaks in your business - and we have one for you! It’s small but it’s so important: your communications. Communications got weird when the global pandemic hit and many businesses were scrambling to find a way to continue all our necessary discussions in a more restricted way.
At Admin Slayer, we’ve been communicating as a remote team since the beginning, and we know that doing that requires a different approach. We’ve got tips and tricks for ways to stay connected without overloading your screen and your time - because you need to recover between each and every meeting.
March is home to International Women's Day, and this year’s theme is #ChooseToChallenge. Take a look at how we’re choosing to challenge here! Speaking of celebrating women, we’re pleased to announce that our very own, incredibly talented CEO, Julia Chung, has been nominated for the 38th Annual YMCA Women of Distinction Awards in the entrepreneurship and innovation category! You can also vote here for her to win the “Connecting the Community” award. Winners will be announced at the online gala on June 7th.
Finally, if you’ve ever wondered whether you’re the only one who is working from dawn until dusk, we can assure you that you decidedly are not. Julia shares a day in her life working inside Admin Slayer and benefiting from our outstanding team as she does. A master delegator, you may find some ideas in her day that can make your own day just that much more efficient.
As always, we love to hear from you! How are you staying connected and recovering from all the little crises that populate your day? Find us on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram and share your stories!
