We’re rolling into the final few months of 2020 and, of course, we continue to deal with hard work, ambiguity, and the relentless changes that this year has brought. Resilience, a favourite topic of ours, is definitely something we have all needed to rely on in this strange year that somehow manages to be both wild and boring at the same time.

If throughout this year you’ve felt as though you’ve made more missteps than usual, that perhaps your choices haven’t been as optimal as you’d have hoped, we invite you to give yourself a break. As Richard Thaler (famous behavioural economist) has said: People Aren’t Dumb. The World is Hard. If you’ve found yourself impatient with others as they make simple errors and are doing things you’re certain are out of character, we invite you to give them the same break. The world is pretty hard, especially when it’s giving us even more ambiguity than we’re used to.

Money and time maybe some of your biggest stressors right now. They always seem to be fighting for priority in any business, and there never seems to be enough of either one. When the world is serving up a pile of shrugs when you’re asking where to go next, it can seem like the best action to take is inaction - just stop everything and wait for this to blow over.

But when the world is hunkering down and waiting for things to blow over, that’s exactly the right moment for a nimble company to make massive leaps. If everyone’s being quiet, it’s a lot easier to be heard and, as noisy as it is right now in some areas, it’s definitely quiet in others.

If your industry is holding its breath, we invite you to be the one who stands up and shouts. Differentiation is really important in any business, and now is the perfect time to let everyone know exactly how unique your business really is.

Whether it’s your unique approach to your industry (like, ahem, our award-winning trailblazer of a CEO, Julia), the fact that you go above and beyond in customer care, or that you’ve solved a problem that’s been annoying people for decades - now is the time to shout about it. Spend the money you’re pretty sure you don’t have on communicating with your audience. In the long run, you won’t regret it.

Want an example? OH, we are so glad you asked. This month, we are featuring Take Off, Eh!, a specialty travel agency (yes! A travel agency in times like these!) that used a professional marketing strategy - and our implementation support - to increase traffic and drive business through the doors, right at a time when the business had been falling off a cliff. You won’t want to miss their story.

Speaking of great stories and cool people we get to work with, Have You Met Kim P? Since we are lucky enough to have more than a few Kims at Admin Slayer, we have started using initials to differentiate. But you won’t have any difficulty recognizing this slayer, who brings wicked communication skills, two languages, and a penchant for documentation to the team. Learn more here about this slayer who loves all those “boring” tasks everyone else seems to hate and spends her free time with her family in the wildest parts of Canada she can find.

Finally, this month we were sharing all the things that slayers are grateful for on our social media profiles. We’re loving coffee (more than a few times), the amazing people around us, turning the camera off on zoom and so much more. Find it all on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn!
